National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and Kodiak are exciting, action-packed programs designed to provide youth with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Cedar Badge (CB) is sponsored by the Grand Teton Council and provides an active environment for teaching these youth cutting-edge leadership programs. The Cedar Badge course centers around the concepts of what a leaders must BE, what they must KNOW, and what they must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. Cedar Badge is the best training available anywhere! 

Program Levels

 

Boy Scout NYLT (11 and 13 year old boys)

Boy Scout NYLT uses the patrol method in a Scout Camp setting to teach leadership and Scoutcraft skills and help Scouts become effective leaders within the Boy Scout Program. Participants will experience:

  • Model Troop Leadership and Operations 
  • Interpatrol Activities and Competitions
  • Overnight Outpost Camp
  • Inspirational Campfires 
 
 

Bear Claw NYLT (14 to 17 year old boys and girls)

Bear NYLT offers all of the leadership and Scoutcraft training of the Boy Scout or Venturing Program combined with more high-adventure activities and fun! Participants will experience:
 
  • Rappelling
  • Shooting
  • Geocaching
  • Overnight Outpost Camp
  • Rendezvous and Mountain Man Games 
 
 

Venturing Kodiak (14 to 20 year old boys and girls)

Venturing Kodiak is the pinnacle of the youth high adventure activities, while teaching advanced leadership skills. Participants will experience such things as:
 
  • Hiking
  • Floating the rivers
  • Climbing and Rappelling

NOTE: VENTURING IS $50 MORE THAN THE BASIC $160 FEE FOR PARTICIPANTS! FOR A TOTAL OF $210

Registration Instructions: If you are a participant or staff member, then you can use the online registration system by either setting up a new profile or logging into an existing one by clicking on the Register link below. If you are a staff member who has received a paper form from a participant, please turn those into the Scout Office in Idaho Falls. For your convenience of if you live farther away, you can also scan and email them to heather.branson@scouting.org or text 208-932-5525 using a picture of the application from a smart phone. Do NOT register an individual through the online system if that person is NOT you
