Level 1 BSA Climbing Instructors Training: Session 1
The level 1 climbing instructors training will be held in 4 sessions in 3 different locations.
The cost for the training is $50.00 . Please pay this at one of the service centers an have them refer this to Climb on Safely Training. This fee if for your copy of “On Belay” other handouts, Use of Council gear and ropes and camping and climbing fee for sessions 3 and 4. Please bring a copy of your health form A, B, and C filled out and signed.

Session 1. May 4th 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Pocatello BSA Service center.
Session 2. May 5th 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Ross Park (Sunnyside)
Session 3. May 18th 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Big Rock Campground Heise.
Session 4. May 19th 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Big Rock Campground Heise.

Session 1 will be held May 4th, 2018 at the Scout service center in Pocatello at 2306 Pocatello Creek Road. This training is for those that will be helping with unit and council Climbing and Rappelling activities. All 4 sessions must be attended and completed to receive a Level 1 Climbing Instructor Certificate. We will be meeting down stairs in the large training room. Training will start at 6:00 PM. Please be on time. Session 1 is classroom setting where we will be discussing topics such as, dealing with fear, Climb on Safely, Equipment, Equipment maintenance, Rope and equipment logs, Council unit policies and other topics. Training will go until 10:00 PM

Be prepared to tie the following knots and hitches. Figure 8, Figure 8 on a bight, Figure 8, Canadian 8, Alpine Butterfly, Prusik, Bowline, Bowline on a bight, Clove hitch, Munter hitch, Mule knot and stopper knot.

This training is COPE / Climbing Foundation (practices and techniques common to COPE and Climbing) Plus Climbing Level 1 Certification. This is our only Level 1 Climbing Instructors course planned for the spring climbing season. If some of these dates do not work for you, email me (Craig Peck) at tetonmaniac@hotmail.com .

NOTE: Session 1 and 2 are in Pocatello and Sessions 3 and 4 are in Ririe, Heise- Big Rock Camp Ground.

      All four sessions must be attended to receive a Climbing Instructors Certification.    

COST: 50.00 this includes the new Belay On manual and materials, Use of Equipment and Ropes. Participant will need to bring their own Lunch, Dinner and snacks. Meals are not provided.
