Climbing Instructor Workshops for Level 1 and 2 Instructors
These workshops are mandatory for instructors advancing toward their Level 2 Certifications.
These workshops are where Level 1 Instructors can re-certify for one year.
These workshops are open to Both Level 1 and Level 2 Instructors and anyone wanting to sharpen their skills.
This one day (Saturday) Workshop is designed to enhance and complement the
level 1 Climbing instructor
and to build the 15 required hours of anchor and Anchor Systems that are Prerequisites in becoming a Level 2 Climbing Instructor. Training will include
Mechanical Advantage Systems
, Universal Access,
Assisted Rappel
and Anchor Systems.
During this workshop we will be focusing on several skills. For Level 1 and 2 Instructors we will practice some rappelling and climbing anchoring systems and setups. Level 1 Instructors that need to re-certify can do so at this workshop. Level 2 Instructors will be working on advanced anchor systems, rescue scenarios, mechanical advantage systems and techniques. Level 1 instructors that are working toward their level 2 certifications must attend these workshops before attending the level 2 training course in June. Level 1 instructors are also welcome to attend the Level 2 segment.
These workshops have been a lot of fun in the past and really help to sharpen our skills after the long winter. Another thing that is very helpful is to allow time to relate stories of things we have learn from past climbing and rappelling activities. These sessions help with future trainings and pinpoint areas where we may need to change or focus differently during trainings.
Please bring your personal climbing gear, helmets, harnesses, rappelling and belaying devices. Council gear will be available for those that may forget or need.
